Frequently Asked Questions
squeevio creates a VPN tunnel on your device that intercepts DNS queries — the “translations” of domain names to IP addresses. When an app or browser tries to open a blocked site, the tunnel returns an empty address (0.0.0.0) and the page simply does not load.
Filtering happens locally on your device — we do not send your browsing history to our servers. SafeSearch (Google, Bing) is enforced automatically.
A partner is a trusted person (e.g. spouse, therapist, mentor) who holds the key to your filtering settings. Key principles:
- Adding categories and domains is always free — no partner approval needed.
- Removing blocks requires partner approval — protecting your calm-state decision.
- The partner can remotely unlock your profile for 5 minutes (emergency window).
- The partner does NOT see your browsing history or chat messages.
- Android — full VPN tunnel, block screen, tools, FCM push.
- iOS / macOS — full VPN tunnel (NEPacketTunnelProvider), native app.
- Windows — DNS proxy on 127.0.0.1:53, SafeSearch, Windows dashboard.
- Raspberry Pi / Linux — whole-home protection, UDP:53 DNS server.
- Apple TV / Android TV — DoH filtering, simplified version (scaffold).
- Web panel — squeevio.com/dashboard — manage settings from a browser.
On Android, the app shows an intervention screen — your goal, breathing exercises, grounding tools, and an option to contact your partner. The page does not load in the background.
On other platforms, the page simply does not open (DNS returns an empty address). The “no connection” is not an error — the filter worked.
If you have no partner: in filtering settings you can unlock your profile for 5 minutes by yourself.
If you have a partner: only the partner can open the 5-minute window. You can send an unlock request from the intervention screen — the partner gets a notification and can approve with one tap.
- DNS filtering is local — we do not log your browsing history.
- Chat uses SHA-256 hashed identifiers — never your real name.
- Voice rooms (LiveKit) are anonymous and encrypted in transit; we never record calls. Media passes through the provider's servers, so calls are not end-to-end encrypted.
- Account data is stored in an encrypted PostgreSQL database in Poland (Azure, Poland Central region).
- Partners do NOT see the list of visited sites — only filtering settings.
- Full policy: Privacy Policy.
Categories are topic-based domain groups (e.g. adult content, gambling, social media, crypto). You can toggle whole categories in the Content Filteringsection in the app or web panel.
You can also add specific domains to your blacklist (always blocked) or whitelist (always allowed). Adding is always free — removing requires partner approval if you have one.
Premium subscription is managed by Paddle (Merchant of Record). You can cancel any time — access remains active until the end of the paid period.
To cancel, email support@squeevio.com — we reply and handle the cancellation. You can also cancel from the payment receipt the provider sends you. There is no “cancel” button in the panel yet, and we would rather say so than send you looking for one that is not there. A refund is available within the first 14 days per our Refund Policy.
The app includes a directory of verified specialists — psychologists, therapists, mentors, and coaches. Go to Tools → Contact a specialist.
You can also browse the directory without logging in: squeevio.com/specialists.
If the correct category is enabled but a site still opens, the domain may not yet be on our block lists. You can:
- Add the domain manually to your blacklist (Filtering → Blacklist → Add domain).
- Report the missing domain to the community — in the app: Filtering → Report missing site. After gathering votes, the domain is added to the official list.
